Bike to Work Day
With visitors from as far as Crystal City, Columbia and Rockville, this year's Bike to Work Day was a great way to commute in an eco-friendly, healthy and less traffick-y way.
It was a truly beautiful day for a bicycle ride.
About 150 bicyclists joined us at the City Hall pit stop on Friday, May 17. Those who came enjoyed some breakfast food to keep them going, free swag and lots of comraderie. Numi Yoga provided a quick yoga exercise to get the blood pumping and loosen achy muscles, while Proteus Bicycles and the College Park Bicycle Shop provided free bicycle tune-ups. Mayor Jordan of the City of Greenbelt stopped by with the (slowpoke) Greenbelt convoy. The convoy then joined Mayor Patrick Wojahn, Councilmember John Rigg and the rest of the College Park convoy on their trip to Freedom Square in D.C.
Thank you to Bagel Place, Nando's Peri-Peri, Posh Fitness, OpenBarre and Orange Theory gym as well for participating and fueling our enthusiastic bicyclists.
Did you know that the City of College Park has miles of biking trails connecting us to other parts of our region? As you can see from the map on the left (which riders used to mark their journeys), you can get to a lot of places on your bike from the City!
