Meet the Candidates: District 4

Candidates for Office of District 4 Councilmember

Vote for No More than 2

MARIA E. MACKIE

My first term on council has been tough yet rewarding; there’s been a lot to learn. I have worked with the mayor and council, city staff, city committees, contractors, residents individually and in groups, and with county and state officials, to address issues that affect my residents. I have helped navigate the pandemic, many projects, and even some controversies. Throughout, I have listened carefully to all the residents of District 4, and have sought to address your concerns, anticipate your needs, protect your welfare, and advocate for your interests. I grew up in College Park, then attended the University of Delaware. I spent most of my career at NASA. My husband and I have lived in College Park since 1994, raising 5 children here, whom I home schooled from 1992-2018. I have served our community in many roles. I am an active volunteer at church and I am presently self-employed, assisting people to remain self-sufficient. I enjoy reading, walking, gardening, and cooking. I believe my life’s experiences have brought a unique and valuable perspective to the council. I hope you will re-elect me to keep my 50-year home a place people want to call home for the next 50 years
