Dr. Fazlul Kabir is a five-term City Council Member of the City of College Park District 1, representing North College Park. Dr. Kabir has been living in Hollywood for over 18 years since 2003. He works for the Federal Government and holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Manchester. During his tenure on the Council, he has successfully advocated to reduce College Park’s property tax rate to a historically low level and to complete the construction of the Hollywood Dog Park and the Hollywood Gateway Park. He has also started the Hollywood Farmers Market, Hollywood Community Garden, and the monthly Police-Community meeting. He helped start the new newspaper “College Park Here & Now” and co-founded the annual College Park Day event. If re-elected, he plans to complete the construction of the Hollywood streetscape project at the intersection of Rhode Island Ave and Edgewood Road to help revitalize the Hollywood commercial district. Dr. Kabir will work with the community on the reconstruction of the second phase of the Duvall Field project. He also plans to bring more community space and programs to North College Park for residents of all ages.

CATHERINE H. KENNEDY

Kate Kennedy is currently serving her second term as City Council member in District One. She lives in Hollywood with her family where she enjoys gardening, shopping at the Hollywood Farmer’s Market, and cycling at the local spin studio. In her tenure on the city council, Kate chaired the council committee that improved the city’s committee structure, ultimately leading to more engagement within the community. Currently, she is chairing the Neighborhood Preservation Trust which promotes affordable housing while also stabilizing neighborhoods. Kate also serves on various committees within the city and the region. Professionally, Kate is a nonprofit fundraising executive who has raised funds for the Girl Scouts, the League of Women Voters, and a tuition-free private school in Anacostia. She currently fundraises for a national nonprofit working to end childhood hunger. Kate brings her fundraising and business expertise to the City Council by advocating for resources and amenities in North College Park, including the completion of Duvall Field, the Hollywood Commercial District Streetscape Project, and expanded sidewalks. She has advocated for a more inclusive and welcoming College Park because she believes a neighborhood should be more than a collection of strangers, it should be a community.
