Advisory Board Volunteers Wanted

Serve your community, lend your talents, and meet your neighbors by applying to serve on a City Advisory Board! The following are in need of volunteers:

  • Education Advisory Committee: Individuals interested in serving on the Education Advisory Committee will support, strengthen and promote the schools that College Park students attend.
  • Ethics Commission: The Ethics Commission is established under Chapter 38 of the Code of the City of College Park. Individuals interested in serving on the City’s Ethics Commission will work to promote the ethical standards set forth in the City Code.
  • Seniors Committee: Individuals interested in serving on the College Park Seniors Committee should have an interest in senior advocacy, community building, networking and outreach.
  • Tree and Landscape Board: Individuals interested in serving on the Tree and Landscape Board should have interest and knowledge of trees, landscaping and gardening, and the benefits they provide to urban infrastructure, as well as local ecological and environmental benefits provided to an urban community.
  • Veterans Memorial Committee: Individuals interested in serving on the Veterans Memorial Committee will be involved in planning the City’s Veterans Day and Memorial Day events to honor our veterans.

Interested in volunteering? Please complete and submit an application to jsmiller@collegeparkmd.gov by Monday, October 3, 2022. The Mayor and Council will make appointments in October 2022 for three-year terms that will begin on November 1.

Suicide and Crisis Lifeline

Recently, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline was designated a new three-digit dialing code! Simply call or text 988 to connect to free and confidential emotional support for those in a suicidal crisis or other emotional distress. The lifeline is open 24 hours a day all 7 days of the week. The Suicide and Crisis Lifeline also has resources to help diminish suicidal thoughts or support those who are suicidal on their website at https://988lifeline.org.
