VeoRide
Getting Started
VeoRide, a mobility share program, launched this past August in the City of College Park, Town of University Park, and University of Maryland. To date, there have been over 28,900 rides taken with the electronic bikes, pedal bikes, and electronic scooters.
How to Get Started:
Download the VeoRide app on your smart phone to get started. You will see a map of the service area and nearby vehicles. Bikes may be parked at any bike rack within the service area. Blue Parking boxes on the app show the location of scooter parking. Scooters can only be parked in the designated geofenced areas. Hours of operation are between 5am and 9pm.
How to Report Issues:
To report inappropriate parking such as a bike blocking a sidewalk or left on a residential street, call our local VeoRide coordinator at 703-639-8207, email hello@veoride.com, or report the issue directly in the VeoRide app. The app will ask for the bike/scooter number and location on the map. By reporting the bike/scooter number, VeoRide can send a message to the previous user explaining where they are allowed to park and issue a warning for the first offense. Users are fined after their first warning if they continue to park inappropriately. Please contact the Department of Planning, Community and Economic Development at 240-487-3538 for additional information.
Where am I allowed to drive VeoRide bikes and scooters?
Bikes and scooters should generally be used on roads, preferably in low traffic areas and bike lanes going with the flow of traffic. Remember to always yield to pedestrians. Exercise caution if it is necessary to cross or briefly travel on a busy road. Riders should always wear a helmet.
As of November 1, 2019, Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation issued a Park Directive to allow the use of Electric Bicycles and Electric Scooters on certain hard-surface hiker-biker trails on Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation property as part of a pilot program through August 31, 2020. The Lake Artemesia Park Trails that circle the lake, as shown on the image, are excluded from use by Electric Bicycles and Electric Scooters during the pilot program period.
