CITY EVENTS

Honoring Dr. King

Join us for the 29th Annual City of College Park Tribute to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Saturday, January 11, 2020 from 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. at The Clarice's Dance Theatre located on the Univerisity of Maryland campus. This inspirational and educational event is free for all ages.

The City's annual event honors Dr. King's legacy through a keynote address, performances, art and a City proclamation. Every year a new theme is selected, showcasing how his work still impacts our nation and community, and what we can do continue his efforts in our current era.

This year's theme is "Is his Dream, your Dream too?" presented by panel of speakers. Performances from local groups, schools and community organizations are a prominent feature of the Tribute event. Stay after the event for a brief reception and an opportunity to meet and talk to the performers.

Parking

Free event parking is available nearby in University Lots 1b and Z all day on Saturdays (excluding home football games). These lots are about a 2-5 minute walk to the venue. There are also paid parking options in the Stadium Drive Garage as well.

For more event information or to share with your friends and neighbors, please visit the City's Facebook event page.

Future Park at the End of Odessa Road Community Meeting

Monday, January 13, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. Youth and Family Services Building

4912 Nantucket Road - In the Recreation Room

The City of College Park is in the process of planning for a new play area in the vacant parcel at the end of Odessa Road. There is neighborhood interest to create a park for children to play at that is close to their home, so they do not have to cross busy Rhode Island Avenue. The area bordering the properties on 52nd Avenue and Palco Place was identified as a suitable location for this park.

This community meeting will provide more information about the project and provide an opportunity for residents to ask questions and make suggestions related to the proposal.
