Every year, the City recognizes those Public Works employees who have gone above and beyond in service to the City with the Spencer Harris Awards. This year's 32nd annual City of College Park Spencer Harris Award Ceremony and Breakfast was held on January 30. The awards ceremony also recognizes the years of safe driving by City staff.

The Spencer Harris Award was established on May 10, 1988 by the Mayor and Council. It was named after a Public Works dispatcher who brought excellence to his position and dedicated almost twenty years to the Department. Throughout his years with us, Spencer received numerous awards for outstanding service and letters of appreciation from the public.

To earn this coveted award, a Department of Public Works employee must be nominated by his/her peers and rate highly in honesty, diligence, respect, flexibility, dedication, reliability, leadership and initiative.
