Redistricting College Park
The City Charter requires review of the council districts at least every 10 years, soon after the federal census is available.
In February 2022, the City Council established the Redistricting Commission to review population data from the 2020 Census, University of Maryland residential population, and projections for residential projects under construction.
An analysis of the population data confirms that the City must adjust the current district boundaries in order to have equal districts.
Redistricting Commission held two meetings for residents to review and provide feedback on the Commission’s draft City District maps. The Commission presented its report to the City Council on September 27th.
Residents can review the draft maps at www.CollegeParkMDRedistricting2022.com.
