October Cleanup Saturdays

October 2*, 16 & 23, 2021 | Department of Public Works, 9217 51st Ave. 7:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.

The City of College Park Public Works facility will be open for City residents to drop-off bulky trash, white goods, electronics, brush, and yard trim. You must be a resident of the City of College Park and bring proof of City residency in order to participate. Bulk trash brought on cleanup days does not count toward bulk trash limits, nor are any fees applied for appliances, televisions, or monitors. There is a $4 fee for all tires.

PUBLIC WORKS DOES NOT ACCEPT: Brick, concrete, rock, propane tanks, hazardous materials such as automotive batteries, ammunition, automotive fluids/fuels, cleaning agents, cooking oil, mercury, insecticide/herbicide, fertilizer, oil-based paints, pool chemicals, photographic chemicals, roof shingles, smoke detectors, solvents, sealants, varnishes and stains.

Items for purchase: You don’t need to be a resident to purchase any of the products except yard waste carts. Check the website for latest information regarding availability. • Rain Barrels $72, limited number available • Compost Bins $20 resident, $40 nonresident • Yard Waste Carts $25, residency required • GAT traps $50, limited number available • Smartleaf Compost $28 a cubic yard (check website for availability) • Wood Mulch $12 a cubic yard

DURING CLEAN-UP DAYS, THE FOLLOWING WILL BE COLLECTED: • Household batteries for recycling - limit 6. This includes rechargeable batteries such as Li-Ion, Ni-Cd, Ni-MH, Ni-Zn; Single-use alkaline batteries such as AA, AAA, 9V, C, D button cell, and lithium primary. No damaged batteries; no automotive batteries. • Fluorescent light bulbs and tubes (must be intact) - limit 4. Includes U-shaped or circular fluorescent lamps, High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps, Ultraviolet (UV) lamps, Incandescent Bulbs, Halogen or Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL’s). • Block Styrofoam for recycling (coolers and large blocks of packing material). No packing peanuts, cups or plates.

Sustainability Discussion

Want to know what sustainability issues matter most to College Park residents? What actions residents are already taking to make our city greener and cleaner? Join College Park's Committee for a Better Environment for a Zoom webinar on Saturday, October 9 from 10 a.m. to noon to find out the results of a survey of College Park residents about how they are greening their lives, and steps they'd like the city take to make College Park greener. We'll also discuss actions that local communities are taking that College Park could adopt to be greener. And there will be time for questions and discussion. Rabies and Microchip Clinic

Sunday, October 24, 2021 | Public Works, 9217 51st Ave. | 10 a.m.

The City's Animal Control and Animal Welfare Committee are hosting a Rabies and Microchip Clinic for City pets on October 24, 2021 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Appointments are required - slots are individual, you can only register one animal per spot. Appointments are in 10 minute slots, and space is limited. All animals must be leashed or properly confined to a carrier. No walk-ins.

City residents must be able to provide proof of residence to obtain free services. Services will be discounted for non-residents as follows (exact cash only):

  • Rabies vaccine, $10.00 For 3-year Rabies vaccines, the pet owner must have a current signed rabies certificate (1- or 3-year), and vaccines will be given at the discretion of the veterinarian.
  • Microchipping, $20.00

Please come no earlier than 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. Please remain in the vehicle with your pets, and wait to be called for your appointment. To participate and get event details, register on Eventbrite: oct2021rabiesclinic.eventbrite.com.
