College Park is an Age-Friendly Community!

Did You Know The City of College Park was approved to join the AARP Network of Age-Friendly communities? As a member of this national network, College Park joins over 500 communities whose elected leadership have committed to work toward making their cities great places to live for all ages. The group working on this project is composed of members of the Senior Advisory Committee and other resident stakeholders. Focus areas include the domains of housing, transportation, communication, social participation, health services and community support.

The City adopted an Age-Friendly Community Action Plan in May 2023. The overarching goal of the plan is to make College Park a retirement destination and to promote the advantages for current residents to age in place. Through the plan the City will be a place where:

  • A variety of convenient, low-cost, multimodal transportation options will be available.
  • A variety of safe, affordable, well-maintained housing types are available to meet the needs of all ages, incomes and ability groups.
  • People of all ages will receive useful and timely communications from the City in a format that they can readily access.
  • There will be opportunities to be engaged in multicultural, multi-generational activities including social, educational and volunteer programs.
  • Physical and mental health services as well as recreational and wellness activities will be accessible to residents of all ages, abilities and incomes.
