Care for Your Trees, Care for the Planet!
Planting trees is just the beginning—caring for existing trees is equally important! Healthy trees improve air quality, provide shade, support biodiversity, and help combat climate change.
Here are some simple but impactful ways to care for the trees around you:
- Water Wisely – Young trees need deep watering at least once a week, while mature trees require water during dry periods. Water at the base to avoid fungal diseases.
- Mulch for Protection – A layer of organic mulch around the base (but not touching the trunk) helps retain moisture, regulate soil temperature, and reduce weed competition.
- Prune Properly – Remove dead or diseased branches to keep trees strong, but avoid excessive trimming, which can stress the tree.
- Protect the Roots – Avoid compacting the soil around trees by keeping heavy equipment, vehicles, or excessive foot traffic away from their root zones.
- Encourage Biodiversity – Trees provide shelter for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife. Keep your trees healthy to support local ecosystems.
By nurturing the trees we already have, we preserve their benefits for generations to come!
